The new megayacht Ancora, which recently made its debut from Italy’s Baglietto shipyard in La Spezia, has been fitted with a state-of-the-art integrated bridge system (IBS) supplied by Northrop Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE: NOC) Sperry Marine business unit.

The bridge electronics suite is based on Sperry Marine’s VisionMaster FT™ technology and features an array of TotalWatch™ multi-function workstations for controlling the ship’s radars, electronic chart system, closed-circuit TV, machinery monitoring and conning displays. The package also includes a gyrocompass, autopilot, steering system and other navigation subsystems and sensors.

Telemar Yachting, Sperry Marine’s authorized representative in Italy, was responsible for designing, installing, integrating and commissioning the bridge system.

“We are rapidly gaining momentum as a preferred supplier of navigation systems for Italian megayacht builders through the efforts and experience of our partners at Telemar Yachting,” said J. Nolasco DaCunha, vice president of Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine. “Our VisionMaster FT and TotalWatch technology provides a highly integrated and flexible solution for the bridge management requirements of modern megayachts.”

“Italian megayacht designers and builders are recognizing the advanced performance features and benefits of Sperry Marine’s VisionMaster FT products,” said Andy Gifford, managing director, Telemar Yachting. “We are currently supplying similar IBS installations for megayachts under construction at the Codecasa and Perini Navi shipyards.”

Ancora, fully built in steel and aluminum, has a length of 42.75 meters and a width of about 9 meters. The external lines are slender as set by the tradition of Baglietto’s displacement yachts designed by Francesco Paszkowski. The internal styling designed by the Dutch Art-Line studio follows an art deco motif. Ancora is the sixth vessel launched by Baglietto in the last eight months.
