CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Litton Marine Systems has won orders to supply integrated bridge systems (IBS) for 12 new ships being built in China, plus options for as many as eight additional ships.

The orders include four 64,000 grt containerships at Dalien New Shipyard for China Shipping Company for delivery in 2002-2004; four similar containerships plus options for four more ships at Hudong Shipyard for the same owner with delivery in 2002-2003; and four chemical (ethylene) tankers plus four options at Zhonghua Shipyard for Norwegian Gas Carriers AS to be delivered in 2002-2003.

Each of these ships will be fitted with a complete Litton IBS with DNV type-approved Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS), a complete GMDSS communications suite and an IMO-compliant Voyage Data Recorder (VDR). The contracts include equipment supply, installation, commissioning, spares, technical support and crew training.

Other recent major IBS orders reported by Litton Marine Systems in recent weeks include seven new bulk/container carriers for Westwood Shipping at Gdynia in Poland, two more Eagle-class cruise ships for RCI at Kvaerner Masa yard and a chemical tanker for Stolt Tankers at the Ujanic Shipyard in Croatia.
