CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA -- Litton Marine Systems, a unit of Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC), has been awarded orders to supply integrated bridge systems (IBS) for seven new ships being built in Poland.

The 27,000- gross-ton bulk/container carriers are being built at Gdynia Shipyard for Westwood Shipping Company, with deliveries set for 2002-2003. There is an option for one additional ship, in addition to the initial seven-ship order.

Each of the ships will receive a complete Litton Pilot Series IBS with DNV type-approved Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS). The contracts include equipment supply, installation, commissioning, spares, technical support and crew training.

This is one of the first major orders for Litton Marine System's new Pilot Series IBS, which was introduced last year to provide a basic compliant IBS and ECDIS package for newbuildings and retrofits, according to J. Nolasco DaCunha, vice president and general manager for commercial marine markets at Litton Marine Systems.

The company also recently won a major order for 12 IBS installations at shipyards in China, with options for as many as eight additional ships.
