Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has been awarded a performance based logistics supply requirements contract for support of electronic systems on U.S. Navy ships and submarines.

The five-year firm, fixed-price $65.3 million contract with award fees was awarded to the company’s Sperry Marine business unit by Naval Inventory Control Point, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Additionally, if exercised the contract will also provide three years of performance options. This contract includes reservations for additional follow-on Sperry Marine systems in support of USN programs to include Scalable IBS, DDG steering, Smartship and SPQ-9B radar systems.

Under the contract, Sperry Marine will initially provide worldwide 365-day logistics supply support for its AN/WSN-7 Ring Laser Gyro Inertial Navigation Systems and AN/BPS-15J and H and AN/BPS-16 Navigation Radar Systems. The contract includes managing the wholesale spares inventory, satisfying fleet demands for repair parts with fully traceable delivery, repairing returned failed components, obsolescence management, fleet Casualty Reports (CASREP) response support, engineering change proposals, reliability analysis, and maintaining system configuration control.

Jeff Holloway, director of the Strategic Business Unit for Military Integrated Logistics Support and Melville Operations at Sperry Marine, said, “This contract is significant in that it combines two major electronic/weapons systems and also includes organic depot support with Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane, Indiana. Moreover, it represents an important validation of our growing capability to provide full life-cycle support to the U.S. Navy.”

The AN/WSN-7 is a state-of-the-art ring laser gyro ship’s inertial navigation system, which is standard equipment on nearly every U.S. Navy surface combatant, including Nimitz class aircraft carriers, cruisers, guided missile destroyers, large deck amphibious ships and attack submarines. The AN/BPS-15H and AN/BPS-16 are integrated radar systems installed on U.S. Navy SSN and SSBN submarines.
