Color Line, an Oslo-based ferry operator, has selected Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE: NOC) Sperry Marine business unit to supply navigation and communication systems for the world's largest cruise ferry, under construction at the Kvaerner-Masa-Yards in Turku, Finland.

Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE: NOC) Sperry Marine business unit has been certified by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) to perform required annual surveys of radio installations on ships.

The ABS approval authorizes service engineers from Sperry Marine's nine U.S. service facilities to inspect and certify mandatory radio equipment, including Global Maritime Distress and Safety Systems, Automatic Identification Systems, and Ship Security Alert Systems. Sperry Marine is also qualified to provide FCC certifications aboard U.S. flag vessels.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Litton Marine Systems has won orders to supply integrated bridge systems (IBS) for four new cruise ships being built for Royal Caribbean International at Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.

With the new order for four ships, Litton has now booked IBS contracts for all six RCI Vantage-class cruise ships to be built at Meyer Werft.

Litton's new VTS-Master-W is a new system utilizing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and proprietary software running under Windows-98/NT. It is based on Litton's unique VTS-Master technology, which permits real-time remote display of raw video data from shore-based surveillance radars superimposed on geographical maps of the area.

Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE: NOC) Sperry Marine business unit has won a multiyear production contract to supply navigation and steering systems for the U.S. Navy Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers (DDG).

The contract, awarded by Bath Iron Works' Lead Yard Services, is worth up to $40 million if all options are exercised. Sperry Marine will provide steering machinery, steering controls and integrated bridge systems (IBS) for up to 10 new ships.

The computerized learning DVDs contain 16 interactive courseware (ICW) training lessons on the use and operation of Sperry Marine’s Voyage Management System (VMS) ship navigation software.
