CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Litton Marine Systems BV, Holland, has completed the installation of a vessel traffic system (VTS) for Zeeland Seaports.

The system, based on Litton's new-generation VTS-Master-W technology, will be used for monitoring and controlling ship traffic in and out of the harbor basins at Vlissingen-Oost.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA ­- Litton Marine Systems has supplied navigation and ship control systems for the new fast ferry Sea Speed 1, which was built for Agipitos Lines in 1999.

The 53m TriCat passenger ferry (Hull 1457) was built by FBM Marine International on the Isle of Wight.

The ship is being fitted with Decca BridgeMaster E 250 X- and S-band high-speed radars, C. Plath Navigat X MK 1 gyrocompass, C. Plath Venus magnetic compass and C. Plath Navipilot V HSC/G-TMC high-speed autopilot. The equipment meets all specifications for high-speed craft under the IMO HSC Code.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Litton Marine Systems (LMS), a Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) company, has received type approval for its Decca BridgeMaster E 180 and 250 flat-screen marine radars.

The type approval, granted by the U.K. Defence Evaluation and Research Agency, signifies that the flat-screen radars meet the stringent International Electrotechnical Commission specifications for performance and environmental requirements.

The assessment was performed on the software engineering processes for integrated navigation systems and ship machinery control systems.

Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has been awarded a contract by the Naval Sea Systems Command to supply navigation radar sets and associated systems engineering for 10 U.S. Navy submarines.

The company's Sperry Marine business unit will deliver AN/BPS-16 (V) 4 navigation radar sets for six Virginia-class attack submarines and four guided-missile submarines. Deliveries will begin in late 2005 and continue through 2010 if all options are exercised.

Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has been awarded current-year options totaling $16.6 million under a multi-year contract from the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command for full-rate production of AN/SPQ-9B anti-ship missile-defense radars. WOODLAND HILLS, CALIFORNIA, Litton Industries (NYSE: LIT) announced today the promotion of John V. DeMaso to the position of president of its Litton Marine Systems (LMS) subsidiary. He replaces Dr. Clark "Corky" Graham who was appointed vice president of resource utilization and productivity improvement for Litton Ship Systems. Mr. DeMaso will report to Harry Halamandaris, Litton senior vice president and group executive, Litton Advanced Electronics.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Litton Marine Systems has introduced a new Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) software package for the international maritime industry.

The new ChartMaster ECDIS software, in kit form, is based on the company's proven Voyage Management System (VMS) software, and has been designed for easy installation on a wide range of hardware platforms.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Litton Marine Systems and VISTAR Night Vision Ltd. have formed a strategic alliance to develop and market night vision equipment for the marine industry.

The announcement was made by the two companies at the Fast Ferry International Conference and Exhibition in Nice, France, February 9, 2000.

Under the terms of the agreement, Litton and VISTAR will establish a Center of Excellence for marine night vision technology. The two companies will jointly develop future night vision technologies and market each other's respective products.
