Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine’s Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) is system-engineered to meet naval hardware standards for shock, vibration, temperature and electromagnetic compatibility requirements. Standard IPMS features include:

  • Machinery alarm monitoring and control
  • Auxiliary systems alarm monitoring and control
  • Safety management
  • Condition-based monitoring (CBM)
  • Optional Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)
  • Secure remote access
  • Managed through Integrated Life Support (ILS package)

COTS Based Hardware

Based on Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine's innovative approach to configuring Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) hardware, the IPMS will reduce life cycle costs and minimize risk.

Full Fault Diagnostic

The IPMS features a fully integrated, scalable control and monitoring package, offering complex functionality in a highly instinctive display for reduced operator load and manning levels.

SIL 2/3 Safety Systems

The IPMS is highly reliable with SIL 2/3 safety systems. The sophisticated automation allows optimised resilience and redundancy. With damage surveillance and control software the operator can manage events in real-time.

Customised Solution

The open architecture of Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine’s IPMS reduces life cycle costs through reduced manning requirements and logistics burden. The system's open architecture allows interfacing with third-party equipment via standard field-bus technology to provide an extremely versatile and expandable solution, including:

Redundant Ring Network Architecture

The control systems are based on a dedicated redundant switched Ethernet local area network for complete field-to-server data links. The Ethernet ring is structured around dual redundant servers in hot back up configuration for decentralized control and monitoring of all subsystems.

Distributed I/O

Multiple I/O outstations are located around the vessel adjacent to the systems they are monitoring to minimise cabling requirements. The distributed I/O outstations utilize industrial-grade hardware.

The IPMS network permits multiple workstations and computers to be connected to the network ring. It can be integrated with other VisionMaster FT systems for display and control from a TotalWatch multi-function workstation on the bridge.

The system is designed to support flexible CCTV and IR sensor capability. CCTV and IR images can be displayed in pop-up windows as desired. This functionality integrates into the same network and screens with optional pan, tilt and zoom.

Dependable Hardware and Software

The extensive use of industrial hardware and software for all critical components ensures reduced life-cycle costs for customers. The scalable network is open-ended for easy upgrade to accommodate future requirements without extensive cabling or additional hardware.
