Northrop Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE: NOC) Sperry Marine business unit has been awarded a one-year contract by Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG (PDS-KG) and HAMMONIA Reederei (a joint venture between PDS-KG, HCI Capital AG and GE Transportation Finance, Inc.) to provide worldwide service and maintenance for more than 135 ships.

Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has been awarded global certification from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) to perform required surveys of shipboard radio equipment.

The ABS certification authorizes service engineers from Northrop Grumman’s Sperry Marine business unit to perform inspections of the ships’ Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) communication equipment. The GMDSS inspections will be conducted by Sperry Marine’s service offices in more than 40 locations around the world.

Freedom of the Seas – Royal Caribbean’s newest and biggest passenger cruise ship, which enters regular service this month – has been equipped with an advanced, state-of-the-art suite of navigation and communication electronics by Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC).

At 160,000 gross tons and carrying more than 3,600 passengers and 1,400 crew, Freedom of the Seas is one of the largest cruise ships in the world. The ship was constructed at Aker Finyards in Turku, Finland, where two additional Freedom-class ships are also being built.

Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has received orders from SRH Marine Electronics SA of Piraeus, Greece, to supply more than 60 simplified voyage data recorders (S-VDRs) for Greek shipowners to meet International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations requiring S-VDRs on existing merchant ships by July 1, 2007.

Northrop Grumman’s Sperry Marine business unit will supply the S-VDR systems and will assist SRH Marine to oversee installation, integration, commissioning and annual performance testing of the systems through its worldwide service network.

The office of the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) has approved Northrop Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE: NOC) Scalable Integrated Bridge System (SCIBS) to meet U.S. Navy requirements for electronic charting on board CG 47 class cruisers.

The CG SCIBS was developed by Northrop Grumman’s Sperry Marine business unit and runs under Sperry Marine’s Voyage Management System (VMS) software. The CNO approval certifies that the SCIBS with VMS is operationally suitable and effective in meeting the Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems – Navy (ECDIS-N) standard.

Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) today announced that its Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) training center has been granted a five-year recertification from the U.S. Coast Guard.

The 40-hour ECDIS course is offered at Northrop Grumman’s Sperry Marine facility in Charlottesville, Va., and includes classroom instruction, individual hands-on training on ECDIS simulator workstations and team training on Sperry Marine’s complete ship-bridge simulator.

Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has been awarded a contract from the Brazilian Navy to upgrade the primary navigation systems on its combat ships with new-generation state-of-the-art inertial navigation systems.

The inertial-navigation-system equipment will be supplied by Northrop Grumman’s Sperry Marine business unit. The system, based on Sperry Marine’s ring-laser gyro technology, is designed to provide high-accuracy position data and precise attitude, velocity and heading inputs for the ship’s navigation and fire-control systems.
