Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has received type approval from the German certification authority Bundesamt für Seeschiffahrt & Hydrographie (BSH) for the Sperry Marine NAVISTAR satellite compass system.

The BSH type approval certifies that the NAVISTAR system meets the International Maritime Organization carriage requirements and International Standards Organization performance requirements for a Transmitting Heading Device (THD).

Northrop Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE: NOC) Sperry Marine business unit has been awarded a contract to upgrade weather and navigation radar systems on Iraqi Air Force C-130 Hercules cargo aircraft.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Litton Marine Systems has been awarded an In-Service Support (ISS) contract from the Canadian Department of National Defence for the Halifax-class frigates.

Under the three-year contract, worth $1.8 million, Litton will provide spares, service and technical support on demand for the MK 49 ship's inertial navigation systems (SINS) on the 12 Halifax-class ships.

Litton will supply a complete integrated bridge system (IBS) with ECDIS, BridgeMaster E 250 and 340 radars, GPS, gyrocompass, magnetic compass, adaptive autopilot, echosounder, dual-axis doppler speed log and a GMDSS A3 communications station. Litton will also provide support for installation and integration of the total system, as well as service and training.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Litton Marine Systems (LMS), a subsidiary of Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC), has received EC Wheelmark type approval for the Sperry Marine SRD-331 Doppler speed log.

The type approval certificate was granted by the Registro Italiano Navale in Genoa, and authorizes Litton to display the Wheelmark of conformity in accordance with Council Directive 96/98/EC on Marine Equipment. The product was type-tested and certified to meet IMO Resolutions A.478(12), A.694(17), A.813(19) and A.824(19), as well as IEC 60945 and 61023.

Kuwait's Coast Guard will improve its search and rescue and law enforcement capabilities through a contract awarded to Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE: NOC) Sperry Marine business unit to supply navigation and surveillance systems for 10 new patrol boats.

Northrop Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE: NOC) Sperry Marine business unit has introduced its next-generation integrated bridge system for ships, called Vision FT, that incorporates the latest advances in marine navigation technology and combines all of the ship’s navigation sensors and systems -- including radars, electronic chart display and information system, gyrocompass, depth sounder, speed log, differential global positioning satellite (GPS) receivers and autopilot -- into a completely integrated package.

Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has been chosen by Royal Caribbean International to supply the navigation and communication systems for the next-generation Ultra Voyager cruise ship, which will be built at Kvaerner Masa-Yards in Finland.

The systems will be supplied and installed by Northrop Grumman’s Sperry Marine business unit.

When completed in 2006, the Ultra Voyager will be the world’s largest cruise ship, roughly 15 percent larger than the five previous Voyager-class vessels. The ship will carry up to 3,600 guests and 1,400 crew.

The U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command has awarded a contract to Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) to supply Scalable Integrated Bridge Systems (SCIBS) for installation on 16 surface combatant ships.

The contract, valued at $3.7 million, was awarded to Northrop Grumman’s Sperry Marine business unit. Under the contract, the SCIBS packages, running on Sperry Marine’s Voyage Management System (VMS) software, will be back-fitted on 10 guided-missile destroyers, three amphibious ships and three aircraft carriers.
