This web page allows mariners to check that their ECDIS meets the applicable IHO standards.  IMO’s “ECDIS – Guidance For Good Practice” published in MSC.1/Circ.1503 states  that, for a ship to use ECDIS to meet the chart carriage requirements of SOLAS, the ECDIS must be maintained to be compliant with the applicable International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) standards.

A list of current IHO Standards in force is maintained on the IHO website at the page  http://www.iho.int/mtg_docs/enc/ECDIS-ENC_StdsIn_Force.htm.

It should be noted that the IHO withdraws the previous versions of S-52, the S-52 Presentation Library, and S-64 on 31st August 2017.  All VisionMaster ECDIS must be updated by that date to version 9.0 or later software in order to continue to meet the chart carriage requirements.
