CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Litton Marine Systems Inc., a subsidiary of Litton Industries, Inc. (NYSE: LIT), has been granted a contract option worth more than $36.9 million from the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command for production of additional AN/WSN-7 inertial navigation systems.

The contract option calls for Litton to deliver 47 AN/WSN-7 shipsets over the next 12 to 24 months. The equipment will be installed on U.S. Navy aircraft carriers, surface combatants and submarines under a program to backfit the fleet with the new-generation systems.

The Coast Guard type approval certifies that the VoyageMaster system meets or exceeds all requirements for shipboard VDR equipment to meet the International Maritime Organization (IMO) carriage requirements. The system has also been type approved by Det Norske Veritas in Norway, QinetiQ in the United Kingdom, BSH in Germany and numerous other national authorities.
