Litton Marine Systems recently installed integrated bridge systems (IBS) on two Royal Caribbean International cruise ships.

The Litton bridge systems were installed during June 2000 on the Rhapsody of the Seas in Victoria, British Columbia, and the Majesty of the Seas in Mobile, Alabama.

"The retrofits were completed in record time - less than one week for each vessel," stated J. Nolasco DaCunha, vice president, sales and service. "We are very proud of the Litton IBS team's accomplishment in delivering and performing these complex installations in such a short period of time."

The Litton equipment includes a Voyage Management System (VMS) with ECDIS, as well as interswitched BridgeMaster E radars, autopilot and sensor upgrades. Litton supplied all of the consoles and cabinetry, and also provided system integration, installation, service and training support.

Litton is currently retrofitting integrated bridge systems on RCI's existing fleet of cruise ships, and is also supplying IBS equipment for all RCI newbuilds, including the Voyager- and Vantage-class ships.

"The recent RCI retrofits are a good example of Litton's uncompromising commitment to continual improvement in quality and on-time performance," stated DaCunha.
