CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - At Euronaval 2000, Litton Marine Systems introduced the new Decca BridgeMaster E series of naval radars, offering a combination of features never before available in naval navigation radar systems.

The new BridgeMaster E naval radar systems offer unprecedented flexibility in integrating with other radars and shipboard systems. They are the first to permit radar video from two different transceivers with asynchronous turning units operating on different frequencies to be mixed and displayed simultaneously in the same video circle. The system automatically correlates duplicate targets to present a single integrated picture to the operator.

The display incorporates convoy sectors, which are based on the NATO form (4W grid) and will provide either XY or polar grids for the purpose of convoy position control.

The new BridgeMaster E system has been designed to support high speed tracking of fast moving and maneuvering targets up to 600 knots. Up to 60 targets can be tracked simultaneously. The system provides extended range out to 192 nm.

An important feature of the BridgeMaster E series is the ability to operate in a training mode. Various scenarios can easily be programmed and saved for operator training onboard ship.

Other features include stabilized sector transmission, red first strike for highlighting fast moving targets, helicopter approach vectors and target intercept.

"Our design philosophy for the BridgeMaster E naval radars has been to develop a highly flexible package that can be configured for each ship's specific requirements and integrated with the ship's other systems and sensors," said Stuart M. Angus, Assistant Director, International Defense Sales. "The specifications for the product line were developed following a detailed analysis of the requirements for modern warships."

Originally introduced in 1998 for commercial marine markets, the BridgeMaster E series incorporates the industry's most advanced clutter suppression technology, assuring the detection of small targets that might otherwise be hidden in sea return.

For over 40 years, the Decca BridgeMaster series have been the benchmark in marine radar technology. BridgeMaster radars have been installed on ships of over 50 Navies and Coast Guards worldwide.
