Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE: NOC) Sperry Marine business unit has just completed a major upgrade of the Integrated Bridge System (IBS) aboard the U.S. Coast Guard's icebreaker USCGC Healy (WAGB 20).

Northrop Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE: NOC) Sperry Marine business unit has introduced an embedded training system designed to support on-board training for ships equipped with the Sperry Marine integrated bridge system.

Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has been selected to supply the bridge navigation and communication systems for a new SeaFrance high-performance vehicle-passenger ferry, which is being built at Alstom’s Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint Nazaire, France.

The new ferry, to be christened SeaFrance Berlioz, in honor of the famous French composer, is scheduled to enter service in February 2005.

Northrop Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE: NOC) Sperry Marine business unit has won orders from the China Shipbuilding Corporation shipyard in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, to supply integrated bridge systems (IBS) for 12 new container ships. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“The state-of-the-art bridge electronics suite is designed to enhance navigation safety by integrating all of the ships’ navigation and steering control systems,” said John DeMaso, president of Sperry Marine.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE: NOC) Sperry Marine unit has introduced a mission data recorder (MDR) for the military market that automatically logs and stores critical data from shipboard sensors and systems.

The MDR is the military equivalent of Sperry Marine's voyage data recorder currently approved and certified to meet or exceed all requirements required by the International Maritime Organization for all passenger and new cargo ships over 3,000 gross tonnage by July 1, 2002.

LONDON -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has won a $15 million contract to supply six ship sets of machinery control and monitoring systems for the U.K.'s Type 45 "D" Class destroyer for the Royal Navy.

The contract, awarded by BAE SYSTEMS Electronics, the Type 45 prime contractor, calls for Northrop Grumman to develop and deliver six platform management systems (PMS) for the Type 45 ships. The contract also includes options for life-cycle support, including maintenance, repair, spares management, equipment upgrades and training.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Litton Marine Systems announced that Det Norske Veritas (DNV) has granted type approval for the Vision 2100 ECDIS.

The DNV type approval certifies that the Litton ECDIS complies with international specifications including that of IMO A.817 (19) and IEC 61174.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Litton Marine Systems has been selected to supply navigation, communication, control and stabilization systems for three new car carriers under construction in Japan.

The three 21,200 grt feeder-type car carriers, Hulls 1184-1186, are being built for UECC (Norway) AS at Tsuneishi Shipbuilding, for delivery in 2000 and 2001.
