CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Litton Marine Systems has been awarded a performance based logistics (PBL) support contract for all AN/BPS-15H navigation radar systems installed in the U.S. Navy's SSN 688-Class submarines.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Litton Marine Systems has introduced a new adaptive autopilot system with self-tuning software.

The new auto-tuning software has been extensively tested in sea trials over the last nine months, and is available in the Sperry Marine ADG 3000 autopilot system.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - The German research ship Meteor was recently refitted with a new suite of C. Plath navigation and ship control electronics supplied by Litton Marine Systems.

The scope of equipment comprises a Navigat 2100 fiber optic gyrocompass and attitude reference system, a Navigat X MK 1 backup gyrocompass, a Navitwin III compass monitor and two Navipilot AD II self-tuning adaptive autopilots, along with repeaters, indicators, interfaces and cabling.

Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE: NOC) Sperry Marine business unit has received service approval from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) to conduct annual performance testing of shipboard voyage data recorder (VDR) installations.

Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has supplied the navigation and communication systems for Royal Caribbean’s newest passenger cruise ship, Liberty of the Seas, which made its debut in May.

The advanced state-of-the-art integrated bridge system (IBS) was installed by Northrop Grumman’s Sperry Marine business unit. Sperry Marine also supplied the bridge electronics for all of Royal Caribbean’s cruise ships, including Liberty’s sister ship, Freedom of the Seas, which entered service last year.

Northrop Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE: NOC) Naval and Marine Systems Division hosted a reception recently honoring the students participating in Northrop Grumman’s WORTHY (Worthwhile To Help High School Youth) mentoring and scholarship program.

Designed to encourage and advance program participants’ pursuit of technical degrees, the WORTHY program provides on-the-job experience and improved access to secondary education. This year’s WORTHY Day celebration allowed each of the students to present an in-depth overview of the projects they worked on throughout the year.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Litton Marine Systems has supplied bridge electronics and communications systems for a new chemical tanker under construction for Stolt Tankers at the Ujanic Shipyard in Croatia.

The 36,700 dwt chemical tanker, scheduled for delivery in January 2001, has been fitted with a complete Litton Vision 2100 integrated bridge system (IBS) with Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) meeting DNV Watch 1 certification. Litton is also installing the ship's GMDSS communications suite and Litton's IMO-approved Voyage Data Recorder (VDR).

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Litton Marine Systems has supplied communications and navigation electronics for a new fishing vessel built in Scotland.

The vessel, the FV Concorde, is a 21.3m wooden twin rig trawler. It was built at Macduff Shipyards on the north coast of Scotland. The vessel was completed in May, and entered service in June of 2000.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Litton Marine Systems has been awarded a contract from the UK Ministry of Defence to supply navigational radars for 19 support vessels in service with the Royal Navy and British Army.

The ships will be fitted with Decca BridgeMaster E 180 X-band navigational radars with color EPA display. The contract, which was awarded as the result of an open competitive tender, covers installation, commissioning, trials and onboard operator training. Installations will be completed by the end of June 2000.
